Before I got sick, I assumed that doctors had all the answers. I can not remember a time before my sickness that I questioned this all too common notion; that society’s best and brightest wear white coats and stethoscopes. An idea that seems wholly accepted and constantly regurgitated through pop culture, education and even from a guilt inducing mother who wishes, “that you tried hard so you could’ve become a doctor!” implicating that title as the true measure of success.
